Leadership and Business Strategy Co-Major and Minor
Real Business. Real Leadership. Real Results.
Work inside Sleeping Giant Capital, a place-based investment firm in downtown Kalamazoo, where students operate alongside investors, CEOs, and managing partners. Through this practicum, you won’t just observe business — you will lead teams, shape growth strategies, and contribute to real decisions that grow portfolio companies.
The Practicum extends far beyond a traditional internship. It’s a rigorous, high-accountability experience where students lead teams, influence strategic decisions, and work directly with investors, CEOs, and managing partners
Choose your path:
Co-Major: Advance to the role of Lead Business Analyst, where you’ll lead a team of analysts, manage complex strategy projects, and deliver results under real-world pressure. You’ll collaborate directly with investors, CEOs, and managing partners on market expansion, product innovation, and acquisition strategy — the kind of work that shapes decisions inside a private equity firm.
Minor: Step inside Sleeping Giant Capital and become a Business Analyst, working on live growth strategy projects within an active private equity firm. Gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment while mastering problem-solving, communication, and data-driven decision-making. You’ll serve as a secondary research, primary research, communications, or finance analyst — tackling real business challenges that influence how companies grow.
In this program, you don’t just study business — you do business. You’ll learn to think like an investor, communicate like a consultant, and lead like an executive, all while developing the confidence and capability to perform in high-stakes, real-world environments.
